WordSeams Terms of Service

WordSeams is operated by Edmund Delaney trading as Quiet Logic. In these Terms, “WordSeams”, “Quiet Logic”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Edmund Delaney trading as Quiet Logic.

1. About WordSeams

WordSeams is a strategic mobile word puzzle game for iOS and Android.

The WordSeams website is currently a pre-launch website used to introduce the game, collect launch-list interest, and provide legal, support, feedback and data-request information. The website does not currently provide the full playable public game.

The WordSeams app may include local play modes, Daily Challenge-style modes, display names, leaderboards, streaks, progress features, sharing features and other game-related functionality. Some features may be available only in beta, test, staging, limited-release or future versions.

2. Accepting these Terms

By accessing the WordSeams website, joining the launch list, downloading the app, using the app, submitting a score, choosing a display name, using a leaderboard, or otherwise using WordSeams, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use WordSeams.

If you are under the age at which you can legally accept these Terms in your country, you should use WordSeams only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

3. App store terms may also apply

If you download WordSeams through the Apple App Store, Google Play, TestFlight, Play Internal Testing or another app distribution platform, the terms, rules and policies of that platform may also apply.

These Terms apply between you and us. App store providers are not responsible for WordSeams except where their own terms say otherwise.

If there is any conflict between these Terms and mandatory app-store terms, the app-store terms apply only to the extent required.

4. Your licence to use WordSeams

We give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use WordSeams for your own personal, non-commercial entertainment use, subject to these Terms and any applicable app-store terms.

You must not:

• copy, sell, rent, sublicense, distribute or commercially exploit WordSeams;
• use WordSeams to provide services to anyone else;
• remove, obscure or alter any legal notices, branding or ownership notices;
• use WordSeams in a way that breaches these Terms or applicable law.

We reserve all rights not expressly granted to you.

5. Intellectual property

WordSeams, Quiet Logic, the WordSeams name, logos, game design, visual design, text, artwork, interface elements, software, code, scoring systems, game rules, generated boards, puzzles, website content and related materials are owned by us or licensed to us.

You do not acquire ownership of WordSeams or any related intellectual property by using the website or app.

You may share WordSeams result cards, screenshots or share text produced by the app for personal, non-commercial purposes, provided that you do not misrepresent them, remove branding in a misleading way, or use them in a way that breaches these Terms.

6. Launch list and email updates

The WordSeams website may allow you to join a launch list by providing your email address.

The launch list is used for WordSeams launch updates, early access updates, product updates and release news.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in an email. Contacting support or sending feedback does not automatically add you to the launch list.

7. Accounts, anonymous identity and display names

WordSeams may use anonymous or pseudonymous player identifiers rather than conventional email/password accounts.

Some features may allow or require you to choose a display name. Your display name may be visible to other players, including on leaderboards or result screens.

You are responsible for the display name you choose. Display names must not:

• be offensive, abusive, hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit or otherwise inappropriate;
• include threats, harassment or personal attacks;
• impersonate another person, brand, developer, moderator or official account;
• mislead other users;
• infringe another person’s rights;
• include personal information that you should not share publicly;
• attempt to bypass moderation, blocked-word lists or technical restrictions.

We may reject, remove, edit, reset, restrict or replace display names at our discretion, including where we believe a display name breaches these Terms or may harm other users, the service or the WordSeams brand.

8. Leaderboards, scores and public game information

WordSeams may include local, Daily, Season or other leaderboards.

Leaderboard entries may show information such as display name, rank, score, streak, game mode, Daily or Season details, best word, result statistics, games played or similar game-related information.

You acknowledge that leaderboard information may be visible to other players or to the public, depending on the feature.

We may remove, edit, suppress, anonymise, recalculate or reset leaderboard entries where we believe it is appropriate, including where:

• a score or submission appears inaccurate, duplicated, manipulated or technically invalid;
• cheating, automation, exploit use or tampering is suspected;
• a display name breaches these Terms;
• there is a bug, outage, data issue or rules error;
• we need to preserve fairness, integrity, safety or service quality.

We do not guarantee that any score, rank, streak, leaderboard entry or result will always be available, unchanged, accepted or displayed.

9. Fair play and acceptable use

You must use WordSeams fairly and lawfully.

You must not:

• cheat, manipulate scores or submit false results;
• use bots, scripts, automation, macros or other non-human gameplay tools;
• exploit bugs, vulnerabilities or unintended behaviour;
• interfere with leaderboards, submissions, scoring, validation or backend systems;
• tamper with app files, local storage, network traffic, requests or responses;
• reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble WordSeams except where this cannot lawfully be prohibited;
• bypass technical, moderation, security or access controls;
• scrape, harvest or bulk collect leaderboard or service data;
• overload, disrupt, attack or interfere with our website, app, APIs, servers or providers;
• use WordSeams for unlawful, harmful, abusive or misleading purposes.

If you discover a bug, vulnerability or exploit, please report it responsibly to [email protected] and do not use it to gain an advantage or interfere with the service.

10. Daily challenges, offline play and pending submissions

WordSeams may include Daily Challenge-style modes, online validation, leaderboards, streaks and submission windows.

Some parts of WordSeams may work offline or with limited connectivity. Other parts, including Daily content, score submission, validation, leaderboards, streaks or display-name features, may require network access.

If you complete a Daily challenge while offline or while services are unavailable, the app may queue a pending submission for later retry. A pending submission does not guarantee that the submission will be accepted.

A submission may fail, be rejected or not count if, for example:

• it is outside the permitted submission window;
• the Daily challenge has expired;
• the submission is duplicated;
• required validation data is missing or inconsistent;
• the app version, ruleset, board, dictionary or configuration is unsupported;
• a service outage, bug or data issue prevents validation;
• we reasonably suspect manipulation, cheating or technical abuse.

We may change, correct, withdraw, rerun, archive or end Daily challenges, Seasons, leaderboards, rules, scoring, dictionaries, validation rules or other game systems.

11. Native sharing and social platforms

WordSeams may allow you to generate share cards, screenshots, result summaries or share text and send them through your device’s operating-system share sheet.

You choose where and how to share that content. We do not control third-party apps, social networks or messaging services that you choose to use.

WordSeams website pages may link to WordSeams profiles on third-party social platforms. Those platforms are separate services and are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

12. Feedback

If you send us ideas, suggestions, bug reports, feature requests, comments or other feedback, you allow us to use that feedback to improve, develop, test, market and operate WordSeams without payment or obligation to you.

This does not give us ownership of your personal data. Personal data in support, privacy or feedback messages is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

13. Future features and changes

WordSeams is a pre-launch and evolving product. We may add, change, limit, suspend or remove features at any time.

Future versions may include additional features such as online play, telemetry, crash reporting, ads, subscriptions, in-app purchases, new game modes, new leaderboards or other services.

If we introduce material new terms or material new personal-data uses, we will update these Terms and/or our Privacy Policy as appropriate.

14. Third-party services and links

WordSeams may rely on third-party services for hosting, app distribution, backend infrastructure, email delivery, security, analytics, crash reporting, payment processing, advertising or other operational purposes.

The website or app may also link to third-party websites, app stores, social platforms or services.

We are not responsible for third-party services that we do not control. Your use of third-party services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

15. Availability and support

We aim to provide a reliable and enjoyable service, but WordSeams is provided on an “as available” basis.

We do not guarantee that:

• the website, app or backend services will always be available;
• Daily challenges, submissions or leaderboards will always work without interruption;
• scores, ranks, streaks or results will always be preserved;
• bugs or errors will always be corrected immediately;
• a particular feature will remain available.

16. Beta, test and pre-release versions

WordSeams may be made available through beta, test, internal testing, early access or other pre-release channels.

Pre-release versions may be incomplete, unstable, subject to reset, and may include temporary test data, staging services or unfinished features.

We may wipe, reset, disable or migrate beta or staging data at any time.

17. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and share personal data in connection with WordSeams.

Please read the Privacy Policy carefully.

18. Ending or restricting access

We may suspend, restrict or end your access to WordSeams, remove your display name, remove leaderboard entries, block submissions or take other reasonable steps if we believe you have breached these Terms or may harm WordSeams, other users, our providers or our systems.

You can stop using WordSeams at any time. You can delete the app or clear app data to remove local device data. Deleting the app does not automatically remove backend leaderboard, Daily submission or launch-list records. More information is provided in our Privacy Policy.

19. Disclaimers

WordSeams is provided for entertainment purposes.

We do not promise that WordSeams will meet your expectations, be uninterrupted, be error-free, be secure, or remain available in any particular form.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

20. Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any rights that cannot be excluded under consumer law.

Subject to the above, we are not liable for:

• loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill or opportunity;
• loss of data, scores, ranks, streaks, submissions or game progress;
• service interruptions, outages, bugs or corrupted data;
• third-party services, app stores, social platforms or network providers;
• losses that were not reasonably foreseeable.

WordSeams is intended for personal, non-commercial use. We are not liable for business losses.

21. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to make the updated Terms available, such as posting them on the WordSeams website or in the app.

The “Last updated” date shows when the Terms were last changed.

If you continue using WordSeams after updated Terms take effect, you agree to the updated Terms.

22. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer resident outside England and Wales, you may also have mandatory rights under your local law. Nothing in these Terms removes those mandatory rights.

The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over disputes relating to these Terms, except where your local consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings in another court.
